Exwick is a residential area on the west side of the river Exe comprising Exwick and Redhills, stretching out to Exwick Wood, Withycombe Way Nature Reserve, Redhills and Okehampton Road. Its proximity to Exeter St David’s train station and to Exeter University make it an attractive and affordable option for those wishing to be within walking distance of either of these.
Aside from housing, there are a number of convenience stores and pubs and a health centre dotted around, there are also two well respected primary schools and a number of green spaces on the outskirts. There is a good bus service to and from the City Centre and Exeter St Davids train station is nearby.
For those looking to buy character property in this area, Exwick Hill is a pretty area with some lovely thatched cottages and larger family homes. The area around Kinnerton Way / Farm Hill consists mainly of ex-council properties and those built in the 1990’s. There is a mixture of purpose built flats and houses which offer good value for money. Areas towards the bottom of the hill are near to St Davids station and are convenient for the University. Redhills is a hilly area to the north west of St Thomas. It was developed after WWII with a mixture of private and council housing. Many of these properties have good views across the river Exe towards the City.
